B Pillar Removal

Bump.Just came in from looking for the mysterious ports.There is nothing on the interior trim panel on my truck except the seat belt anchor,the grill for the rear speakers, and air vents at the very bottom.Any other clues or ideas on where to look?Thanks.BJ

I just read your last post, if you have an interior panel, take that off, I have not seen a regular cab with an interior panel near the seat belt, but if you have one. pull the seat belt off, take any screws out and pull it off and then follow along with my pictures

Ok, I took some pictures. so here they are.

When you open your door and look at the seatbelt area behind the piller this is what you should see.


There are three holes that are plugged or may not be. One if below where the should harness bolts on and 2 are lower than that. Mine were plugged.



Put a screw driver into the plug and pry it out carefully. When you pull out all of the plugs, it should look like this.


Now if you shine a flashlight into the holes, it looks like a nail in each hole, but at the very end is the nut. Slide your 10mm really deep socket into it and remove them, then pull your pillers off.

Ok.I am beginning to believe that the LX interior trim must be different than other interiors.The interior B piller trim panel in my truck is absolutely smooth except for seat belt anchors,speaker grills and air vents. S0 (sigh) it seems that I will have to take the interior trim panel off so I can find these two ports and then get the exterior panels off. Thanks for the pics though cause now I know what to look for when I get other panels off. BJ

Yea lx regular cab trucks have more interior hense the lx model -- Lx -stands for luxary options . More interior panels. higher quality interior . And more options such as cruise control and tape player and chorme door handles , and trim .

Yeah mine has cruise,tilt,air,PS,PB,Automatic and chrome inside and outside door latches and window cranksplus chrome around wheel openings and winshied trim/drip moldings and rear bumper,Looks pretty good for a n old truck,BJ

Sorry guys. Forgot to end this thread.Had to take interior trim off inside the B pillars to get to the mysterious holes.Used long reach 10mm and got panels off.Painted to match truck Z1 and reinstalled look great .Thanks for the help.BJ
