simple solution shave it and move the filler neck into the bed or just pop the lock out of the gas door

just shave the lock....i did it on my old one...

of course, thats no good if your worried about someone jacking your gas..

all the key is good for is to keep an honest theif honest.....if worried about getting jacked for gas or getting your tank sugarcoated, get a lockable gas cap.

a small door popper could be used, but you would have to shave the hole left by the lock tumbler....& with all that trouble, i'd just shave the door & move the filler.

I was wondering about the latch in my truck i have a key on mine but it also has that latch inside why is that? not tryin to jack your thread but its along the same lines

That is what pops the latch. That little lever on the bottom left of the drivers seat? (Maybe buckets only I'm not sure) Maybe yours has seized or snapped?

My LX has bouth as well I guess the lock is there so if you forget to pull it you can just unlock it with out having to go back around

I know this thread is old, but I figured I would throw out an idea I used on my old Mazda... I ran across it while searching for a thread on shaving the key holes in the doors.

Get one of those magnetic stereo cabinet latches. The ones that hold the doors shut, but when you press on the door it clicks and pops out far enough to grab the edge and open it. Shave the key hole, mount the magnetic latch so the gas door sits flush with the body when closed. Then just push on the door and it pops out enough to open it. The magnet hold it closed pretty well also. Nice, clean, and a simple install.

I have 2 LX Mazdas and neither has an interior gas door opener.Anyone know if that was optional or in typical Mazda fashion did some have it,others not?Mazda, bless their little Japanese hearts,is the most inconsistent car company I have ever run across.Nothing they built was the same.Lol.BJ

i like the idea of the stereo cabinet thing.....but, how do you mount them? i have fresh paint and dont wana ruin it with heat. -bf
