Tailgate flip kit question

I need to do this mod. Any thumbs up/thumbs down on kits?

Kits are a waste of money....take the stock bucket, but it out of the tailgate about 1/4 bigger than the actuall bucket...shave that hole then weld that piece to the inside bolt on cover. It will fit killer on the inside cover, and is free.

No it was on my last truck....but it is easy...

1.) take the inner panel off of the tailgate

2.) unbolt the handle and undue the latch rods.

3.) on the outside of the tailgate get some masking tape and mask about 1/4 outside the dip for the tailgate handle

4.) cut along that masking line and remove the tailgate bucket


5.) shave up the hole in the outter skin

6.) weld the piece you cut into the inner bolt in skin( you will need to slightly cut the inner tailgate bracing

7.) bolt the tailgate handle to the bucket and reattach the rods.

8.) bolt the inner panel back in and enjoy your free sahved tailgate.
