are these the headlights that are brighter? i want to get a set of brighter lights for my 89 but i don't know what to buy.

They might seem brighter but I bet they are not optically optimized, and probably throw light everywhere. Which one a clear night might be fine, but in the rain or snow it could be blinding. get hella, bosch or cibie h4's and run the appropriate bulb with an upgraded wiring harness, they will be plenty bright. And hella makes a european spec, h4 with a city light that puts out killer light, has the marker light and is optically designed by engineers.

Don't buy cheapo ebay crap if you want real performance lights.

and if you are intereste I will be doing a tech wtrieup on a new wiring harness in a couple days here.

cool man, i am ready to read it. where should i get the lights from?

I buy mine locally, form a VW aftermarket company...

to be exact, but any place that imports european parts should be able to get european spec H4 housings with the city lights....just specify what brand you want and what type of bulb. Are you looking for blue light or more light or if you want the most amazing lighting power there is a company that make spuare housings that have an HID projector in them instead of an H4 bulb, and it is a true projector, that is designed for HIDs. ALthough last I checked they were in the area of 5 - 7 bills.

Sylvania ultra silverstars do a decent job.About 45 for two at Autozone and they plug right in where ur old ones come out.I changed to them in a 93 2600 I just bought and when I pulled the old bulbs out the gaskets fell apart in my hand-they were shot.Lol.BJ

I HAD THOSE HEADLIGHTS ON MY DAILY DRIVER AND THEY SUCKED I DIDNT THINK THEY WHERE NE BRIGHTER AND THEY HAD A SHITTY RANGE

Well now there is a straightforward opinion for u.Lol.The one little trick that u do to make them better is to have ur headlite buckets sprayed in bright silver and then clear them.Works fine,no need for a wiring harness exchange and they illuminate the road and dont blind oncomimg traffic. To each his own>bJ

The upgrae harness increases the power going to the actual bulb, and makse a REAL difference in light output, it is a good idea on any car when you want birghter lights....made a big difference on my stock 95 civic(when it was stock)

cool man, thanks for all the feedback. i have a phantom grille and it blocks the beam a little. i would really like something a lot brighter. i am not going to spend 5 to 7 hundred on some lights though, good god. haha.
