Go to the supply shop - they will mix a color for you.

yeah the paint supply place should be able to tint it no problem.

I got all my primer from Napa and it worked out well!

They have all kinds of colors!

Get the base primer and the base toners for the colours you want then mix the amount you need....that leaves you with left over white primer to do more in the future.

May I suggest K36 by PPG,

is it safe to leave your truck in a colored primer like this?

I believe so as long as you seal it???

Gravity, what is the answer to this question???

Definatly seal it or you will have to resand, prep, and reprimer before you paint it. Primer will absorb water and other liquids.

I learned this the hard was with primer and mag-chloride (winter road crap). My old car started to rust under the primer and was a pain in the ass to get under control.

Primer it the 2 tone you want and go back over it with a satin clear. That will seal it and give it a unique look.

the question was , about a SEALING PRIMER in Color.

Gravity, the stuff you reffered to, is it a high solids or sealing ? does it come in a few colors or is it to be tinted?
Does it have an epoxy quality, or acid etch, is it rust inhibiting or neutralising, what pressure gives the best result?

We need a primer that allows us to drive our trucks while its under construction, without having to re-do it all later.
An acid etching primer would be nice but I hear they are very toxic.

Does anyone have a product in mind, that is relatively safe to use at our home garages that will seal, and prime for painting while inhibiting any rust that may be there?

NO PRIMER WILL RESIST CORROSION, period, as primers are porous and have no UV inhibitors in them they are not enviromentally stable without being topcoated.

The only semi stable primer is EPOXY and even then you have to use a primer over the epoxy as most of them are non sanding meaning you can't scuff it down the road.

If you want longevity, and to be able to do bodywork over the primer then eopxy is the way to go,

PPG DP series primers are some good epoxies, and they come in about 8 colours.

For the sealer primer K36 can be mixed either as a high build surfacer, or as a sealer primer and can be tinted any colour using the basecoat tinter lineup,

K36 comes in a light grey but you can get infinite colours from basic tinting.

Alas I would not use any primer over a long period of time and when it is time to do the actuall final paint I would block 90 percent of the primer I did use off and use a couple new coats of wet on wet sealer before the new paint application.

If anyone has more questions let me know.
