relocating tailgate handle

i just tore my gate apart and i dont understand how people flip the handle to the inside. any information would be great or a howto flip and shave. this is going to be my first shaving experience so it should be an experience none the less.

It would probably be easier if you picked up a Tailgate Handle Relocator:



^There is an example, I think FBI and GrantKustoms sells them as well!

But that is just my experience on this subject!

NONONO, just cut the handle pocket off of the outside, like 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch outside the indents, then weld that to the inside bolt on panel in the bed that covers the latch...weld the outside hole shut and bolt the panel back in, way cheaper/.


MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE THOUGH.

Its only $30 bucks....not that expensive!

Like I said though, that is just my experience!

im saying i dont get how the latch mechanism works and how it bolts back on. and any pictures would be great and saving money is also great too... just keep in mind this is my first shave job but i have dont alot of sheetmetal work on racecars

I know it sounds ghetto but I'm not running a handle at all. I just push down on the little hinge. I plan on welding some type of rod to it and cut the correct "path" on the inside cover and only have the rod stick through.

You cut the whole pocket off of the outside, then weld it to the inside...then the handle bolts on like factory again...

i had to flip the rods around left to right so the handle works

almost finished just have to weld it up pics tomorrow
