so,i have a locking gas door like most mazdas. you know when you unlock it,there's that stupid metal tab near the filler cap that i guess the lock latches to....well,mine broke and fell out today and now my door wont stay shut,it just flaps around at it's own free will,so I put an adhesive repair strip on it (aka duct tape lol) for now.

I've seen shaved locks before. How do I keep my door shut without locking it? It just swings all over the place now. I don't have the remote release in the cab either like some of them do.

Magnets. I did it to my 1st maz. It broke as well. So, I used magnet things like on a cabinet. Oooh yeh, they work NICELY. Just keep the key for a handle sorta. BUT, if it rides really bumpy, it may pop open, unless the magnet is fairly strong.

brilliant idea! Where'd you mount it in the filler area in the bed?

i pulled the spring out of mine and used a small magnet in the top corner, i havent had a problem with it yet and its been 6 years

So magnets are the way to go eh?

I like the idea of the magnets like on a cabinet like mazdamn said, ones where you have to push them in till they click to release. Maybe I'll have to do that.

Thanks guys.

use the ones from a stereo shelf that you push in to pop it out.
