gas door lock on 87 b2000

I recently purchased an 87 b2000. the gas door lock doesn't work and i was hoping someone on here could take a pic or 2 or know exactly how the lock works so i can fix mine. With the price of gas these days i need mine to work. Thanks in advance.

there is actually a little tab behind the gas door. when the door is open, to your left at the two screws that are close together. when the lock is engaged it will hook on the tab, there for locking it. hope this helped, sorry I don't have pics, maybe someone else will have a pic to show it.

Hey man i can snap some pics tomorrow when it light and then ill post em. A while back mine broke and i went to the junkyard to get the little parts and they just gave them to me.

heres a few pics of mine if your doesn't have the the cable release under the driver seat yours wont have the little ball on the latch.

So that is what that little ball is? I found it under the truck, and couldn't figure that shit out for anything.

thanks for the pics i know what i am missing now. that piece for the cable release the metal tab mine is missing. thanks for the help. eventually i will get some pics up of my truck, its ny daily driver, not trying to make it anything special.

Thanks for the pics. they helped me see what i was missing. i made the clip for the gas door lock the other day at work and it worked like a champ.
