tonneau cover question

I have a tonneau cover that will fit the ranger and mazda p/u 94+. I heard but cant find anymore, a way to retrofit this on a 89 xcab short bed. I havent even tried to put it on yet. If anyone could give me a little insight on this that would be great. Thanks
