Apparently someone thinks caulking will hold a bed together

The retard I bought my truck off of I THOUGHT had welded the bed floor to the bed sides all the way around and then caulked over them. So I'm goin down the freeway the other day and I hit a bumb and the bed corner wacked the ground. woopty doo it dents the bottom of my bed who cares right? Well I get back home after that trip and that whole corner of my bed side is completely seperated from the bed floor. Then I look and theres no broken welds and only like the tack welds on the wheel well that are holding that bedside to the floor.
I think now I'll be doing a stepside bed swap like I was already considering.
What do they charge at the yards for a complete bed?

A pull it yourself yard charges cheap, probably $100. You could even talk them down for more if there is body damage.

One that is already pulled and is in good shape or 4x4 will be around $400 I say. Maybe even more..

thats not bad. I'm actually gona use a stepside ranger bed if I go the new bed route. the body mounts are already cut and lifted all retarded anyways so I'd end up making new ones regardless.

yeahh. I mean I bought the truck for 2 grand, already bagged and bodydropped, but still I'd expect more. the cab bodydrop isnt too bad though, which I think the original owner did.

But I think I'll just do the ranger bed and then I'm gona do something trick with the back half of the bed. I think I'm gona make some fins or graft some using like 55-57 quarters.

ive heard alot of talk from several people bout the stepside bed but never seen it done. not sure how it would look but would love to see someone go through with it to see it. goodluck. and i bought a bed from pull-a-part and in all was like 150 or somethin like that.

I miss mine all the time. The bed is the one area other than the front end that a Mazda can be to look unique.

thats basically what I was thinking. but I think I'll mount tails up in the fins like a 59 cadi.
