shaved tailgate handle

anyone do this? i didn't see nothin in the tech section. was wondering if anyone had a step by step cuz i'm wantin to do this and hopefully gittin a bunch of stuff shaved on my truck here soon, figure it'd be the perfect time to do it.

its pretty much like shaving the door handles. Remove your stock handle and rods,cut a filler plate,tack weld in sloooowly, and do body work. thats how I do it. as for "flipping" the handle on the inside I have never done that without a tailgate handle flip kit. Hope that helps a little. Hows is it driving with those black lights?

thanks man. just read up on it. i'm gonna cut the whole middle outta the inner and make it all flat. good write up tho. thanks again. still kinda unsure cuz i got the stamped gate and dont wanna warp the Z.... oh well.

just be patient take lots of time welding it back together and you'll be fine. I kind of jump around and when the metal is starting to get too hot to touch bare handed give it time to cool
