Anybody know how to replace a winshield. I wanna go take one off at the junk yard and put it on mine. What do I need?

there are glued in with a poly glue there are special knifes used to cut out windshields and it is very easy to break when taking it out. you might see if the yard has the knifes for it. The yard here will attempt to pull it if they get it out in one piece great if not, well they can get most windshields new for about $125-150 range.

It is also very important when installing they windshield the proper glue is used, The windshield is factored into the structural integrity of the cab. Always use the polyurethane glue that's in the tube not the roll of glue some parts stores pass off as a cheap and easy solution.

first, you gotta cut the rubber gasket going around the windshield.then usually guys will use this pulling knife kinda thing. to cut through the glue under the gasket.idk what you could use to improvise, im only saying what ive seen professionals do. then theyll take it out, scrape off all the excess glue, get black primer and cover upand of the scratches you made, to prevent rust and whatnot. then theres some weird black caulk (always been a joke around the shop , ''haha kenny likes black caulk'' which this shit is strooong, like it will dry in 5 minutes to where you couldnt push the window out with your feet. and within an hour it will pass a crash test. then put the window in. idk if i missed anything. but it is easy to break the windshield. so be careful.

ok. I will have my dad help me with it. The reason Id rather do it is because all the places ive called charge over 240 to do it. Thats a lot.

yeah they do charge alot. oh and just to make sure, i dont mean like spray paint primer, i mean like the shit u use with a brush kinda thing.

personally i would just call and get it done professionally. its not that expensive and its worry free.

but if you really want to do it yourself harbor freight sells a cheap kit to remove your windshield.

heres the link

napa parts stores or most auto body finish stores usually carry the glue, knifes and any other supplies. look out for the brand essex or sika for the glues they are the used in oem and worth the money. Someone else might chime in and have more current info than I do. Also with having someone else replace it you are generally covering the cost of a second piece of glass encase they break the first one, not all the time but there are places that do that.

idk. maybe I will get it done. I just called a place and they are only charging 160
sleepyspeed   +1y
if you can get it done for $160 I'd be all over it, the glue is like $30 a tube

damn. Thats expensive glue. Yea I guess I'm leaning more towards getting it done. But I also just bought a sun roof. Anybody know anthing bout installing those. I wanna do that myself becasue they charge an arm and a leg at the shops and etc
