phantom grill questions

i'm going to fab my own grill, but i am kinda lost.

round or flat material?
what size material?
spacing?

i will be filling in my corners, and don't want to use any of the original grill, like these





any suggestions?

Definately flat. . aluminum. .

I thought Linn had made his own grille on here but I can't find the thread. . . But maybe he'll see this and chime in. . .

i love the look of phantom grills.

i would say flat and i would use steel. unless you know how to weld aluminum or know someone who does

i say go 1/8" x 1" flat stock

1/8"x 1" aluminum flat.

i saw that thread from linn. i'm gonna weld weld it. dumb luck for me, my buddy has a welding company, and i do 3d cad drawings at a machine shop. thats why i asked flat or round. in my head it would be easier to make with the round. here's a couple 3d models of round, just to see how "transparent" different sized bars would be.





the reality is that the flat is going to look better. when i get a chance i'll draw that, 1/8" x 1 flat.

Most of the billet grills I have run across have been made out of 1/8" x 1" aluminum strips. Don't know why, but figured why mess with a good thing LOL. Good luck on the build. Hopefully one of these days I will get a phantom grill built

my buddy made one out of like 1/4" or 3/16" round stock for his 78 bulletside. it turned out pretty cool
i vote for round, cuz like someone said above^^ every one has a phantom made out of flatstock...

1 inch i think is too thick, no room for lights
