not sure what it's properly referred to as...

the metal part in behind the bumper that the plate is mounted on. the one my my 92 needs replaced, badly. what i have noticed is what seems like the tailgate hinges seem to be mounted to it. so when the gate is opened, it drops. basically it's like the latches are holding the gate in place.

i need to repair/replace this piece but can't find it aftermarket up here. if i order a sir micheals pan how far under the bed lip does it go?
will the hinges mount to it?

not sure if i'm wanting to go roll pan yet.. but somehow i need to fix this area before i decide to lose the bumper or not

any advice/help/pics would be great.. thanks!

ok.. let's try this...

anyone even have pics of what a steel roll pan looks like or where i can buy a replacement stock one?

or even go so far as buying something relatively close that can be modified?

and.. how to the gate hinges fasten> is there supposed to be a plate they bolt to?

not quite sure what your asking but a roll pan usuall has a lip that mount right up to the bed floor. either weld on or screw on. if you get just the pan there are cutouts for the hinges. is yours just faslling apart? they are really prone to rusting. there isnt an oem replacement part for that. does this help?

grant kustoms who just happens to be a supporter on here...look em up...they have a great rollpan for a replacement.

thanks Jim.. yeah I checked them out this morning... I can't see a real good image of the side to see how far that top lip goes. usually, they roll under from the edge of the bed down. with the maz pans they seem to go around the hinge. not like the hinge actually mounts to the top edge of the pan. the piece that needs replaced is the part that runs all the way across and the hinge actually mounts to it.

i'll see if i can snap a pic and post it when i'm home from work

So the level edge under the tailgate is messed up? ? Ya, the rollpan wont cover that. . You'd have to fix yours or cut one off of a truck at a junkyard. . as for the sides of the rollpan, I think the go outside the factory "rollpan" about 1/2" or so. . . .

thanks josh... yeah .. that's what i was thinking, a wrecker trip on monday. if i find a good one i'll be getting one of the guys in the yard over with a torch to cut it out for me.

failing finding that up here in salty winter canuckland .. I'll get a few pieces of sheet metal and start fabbing up something
