I recently bought a set of escalade wheels and I'm trying to figure out the best tires to put on them without rubbing the fender well or damaging the wheels in any way. Does 215 40 R17 sound right? Thank you in advance!!!!

Yeah that or 205 40 17 is what most people run.

i bought the same wheels recently. They have 50series on them. Only rub when the wheel is absolutley CRANKED. i cant see a 40 series rubbing.

depends on your amount of drop too, I just got my wheels yeaterday and they have 225/50/17s on them and they rub on turns with my 4 inch drop, but the wheels are wide and just barely tuck themselves on my 4x4 fenders, not sure about the eskies, but, I'm putting 205/40/17s on them. just something to think about!

They suck with 50 series. Mine had 205/50/17 when I got them and I later got 205/40/17s and it drove and handled so much better. Seemed like it didnt roll and bob and slide as easily. Not to mention it lowered it slightly.

Difference in tires. First pic with the primer is with cranked torsions and flipped ball joints. 2nd pic is with drop spindles installed.

When you change from the stock 14" wheel with stock size tires to these 17" eskies with 215 40s you loose like, 1.15" at the radius of the tire (2.3" diameter). That probably equates to a fair amount of extra torque, right???

ehhh sorta. You get sligtly better acceleration due to the smaller wheel diameter, but you end up revving higher on the highway.
