My buddy had these Pathfinder Alloy's laying around at his farm, so he gave them to me for free... Before i cleaned them up they all looked like (or worse) then the bottom right one. I'm thinking about painting them white. So my question is, Whats the best way to do this (with spraypaint) Should i sand them first? if so what grit? Should i prime them before spraying them white? How many coats of clear should i put over them? I would like it to be as durable as possiable, so that i can wash them and all. Thanks in advance

i picked up the duplicolor rim paint from the local autoparts store.. the can says to use 320 grit sand paper, i lightly scuffed mine up where i planned on painting and made sure to do one easy light coat followed by 2 heavier coats after the first had dried. it says you can use clear coat over the top but i didnt, and i have used the do it yourself car wash pressure washer on my rims and havent lost any paint yet... they are still lookin pretty clean... except for current brake dust...

Light scuff with 280-320 grit, high build primer and then spray whatever colour you please an then clear them.

they key is scuffing them. if you don't give the paint or primer something to 'bite' to it won't stick

Even a scotch-brite pad will do the trick when it comes to scuffing! I just finished painted all four of mine with Duplicolor wheel paint and they look pretty good!!!

The end result is only as good as the prep work.
