Any advice/ideas on how to get my windshield out?

I admit I have never removed a windshield before, I figured I'd just pull the moldings and heat up the seals and it'd come right out...not so much.

you need a cold knife its a tool with an L shaped blade .use a flat pry tool and pull up carefully on the chrome mouldings . the bottom strip is attached with screws under the cowl. theres two plastic two piece plugs one on each side of the cowl pull up the center of the plug and pull up theres is also like 3 screws across the cowl too .. but once you get all the trim off just twist the blade under the erithane under the glass , push it all the way in so the baldes all the way under then start pulling .. i usually start in the middle top and work my way around to the bottom. you may also need a new clip kit for your mouldings when you put em back in becase alot of time the break when you pull up on em ..the windshield on mazdas is fw501 and the clip kit is the same 501 ..

I got all the molding out yesterday, but I started to try and pry it out and it started to break haha, it needs to be replaced before the truck is done anyways...

I appreciate the info! I'll try and track down one of these knifes...do you happen to know somewhere that sells them (Auto Zone, Sears or something)?

feed piano wire through the sealer get 2 dowels and wrap the wire around the dowels one isnside one outside and slowly pull all the way around until the seal is broken

Have seen several professional use the same method Todd. But then again I have also seen "1" guy stop out at our shop and replace a broken windshield - did not get a chance to see how he did it but it got done.
