Anyone on the forums rocking a soft rag top roof? the flip flop kind? i guess a good example would be the cover of this months Mini Truckin. I could see there being a lot of wind noise in the cab with this kind of roof as well as there being reinforcement needed because of how weak the cuts would make the roof. Has anyone ever installed one of these before? who make the best ones? Any information would be great as i am interested in installing one.

Thanks guys here is a picture as a reference

I can't think of any manufacturers off the top of my head who make them, but they usually come in 2 standard sizes. Either small ones that just open up over the front seats for reg cabs, or the large ones for the ext cabs.

There is no bracing or reinforcements needed. Just cut your hole and the frame of the sunroof basically acts as the bracings. If you've installed it properly it won't leak and wind noise isn't very bad.

I used to have an old Mini Cooper with a sunroof like that and never had any problems with it.

I have installed 5 of these sunroofs in the past. My truck as shown in the avitar had a large sunroof in the fiberglass topper. As for bracing in a regular cab B2200 you would not have any additional bracing needed. As for wind noise the slider in the above picture does not have the wind deflector flipped up (clear black plexiglass at the front of the opening). With the wind deflector flipped up it is no different than any other sunroof on the interstate. My experience has taught me to spend a little more money and get the better brand as the latch at the front and the slides along each side make all the difference when it comes to opening the unit with one hand or stopping, using both hands, bitching a bit then finally getting the @#$% thing open.

ill be honest ,they are nice but a pita ,like Linn said ,i actually had a custom handle made for mine ,cause it was almost impossible to close it tightly ,if i had to do it again ,i wouldn't get a street beat one ,they suck ,my local upholstery shop build them and even underside is padded with material ,with a pop out and turn handle ,for like 600,00 installed

street beat customs actually offers 2, the one of their brand and then a german brand... more $$ for the german brand but wayyyy better quality

^x2 on that one! The German brand ones are built much like the original ragtop sliders found in the early 60's VW beetles
