ok so my driver side mirror is looses so when you drive the wind pushes it in just enough to where you can't comfortably see behind you. i tried to tighten the torx screw on the bottom of the mirror but it either isnt a screw or its insanely tight. i had to stop trying to turn it because i was afraid i was going to break it off. anyone know how i can fix this problem?

thanks

Hmmm never had an issue like this before. Maybe one of these other guys have and can help you out.

Try loosening that Torx 40 (TX 40) screw, then tightenng it. That's the size used on my black mirrors.

I'm assuming that you have the "tow mirrors" or "large mirrors" on your truck.
What will happen on these is the "head" that is on the aluminum "pole" will not have enough grease on it or the lube has dried up and they get hard to rotate on the pole then when trying to rotate them, the #40 torx bolt in the bottom of the pole will either loosen or the "star" washer will dig into the aluminum pole and then the pole rotates and gouge's or grinds some material off the bottom of the aluminum pole and it will be loose from then on.......unless you pull it apart and fix it........and I will show you how!

I did a little write up in the "Tech Write Ups By Members" section.......and you can access it here!

Enjoy!
