Does anyone know anything about these before i purchase them?

And how would i make the outside ring into something like a DRL?

sorry, don't know aboot these since I have the non-halo ones but you can just wire them up to a 12V ACC wire to have it come on while driving. personally, the lights in the pics seem bright enough to be effective as DRLs but might look nice wired to the parking lights....like the older "city lights"

Are those DOT legal? No mention on the webpage, so I doubt it. Not an issue if the cops in your area a cool.

IIRC some guys, on mazdatruckin had trouble with similar lights from eBay.

Hella, offer quality, DOT, H4 conversions. A bit more costly, though.

FWIW I gave up on conversion, and just run good sealed beams.

The cops in my area are pretty relaxed when it comes to things like this haha. How much are the Hella H4 conversions on average?

Not big fan of the halo's my self, but each to his own. As for the non-sealed headlights, I've been running mine for about 6 years or so with no problems. I've changed bulbs a few times...pain on the battery side, but other than that, I prefer them. You can get a set for like $30 or so I think on Ebay. I've got the "diamond crystal" ones, and I'm running Sylvania bulbs.

Around $110, a pair.

+1 on going for Hella H4 headlights. Worth it if you buy GOOD H4 bulbs to go with them.

The cheap H4 housings on ebay and discount sites are pretty crappy. The light output is scattered and uneven. The "halo's" don't look all that great. And after a few drives the resistors and LED's in the halo's burn out. Also the glue holding the halo rings to the headlight yellows and peals away.

I do like the "city lights" inside, though. A small peanut bulb under the main H4 bulb.

Also in no way should you ever talk yourself into buying the "projector" H4 housings out there also. The "projector" is actually in the direct path for the light output and literally distorts the light pattern. Making it horrible.

Also, also. Never buy the gloss black housings. They don't even reflect the light at all, so its useless as a functional headlight.

There is good to be had from these cheap headlights.

*They have glass lenses, so they won't fade and yellow.
*You can replace the bulb inside without taking your front grille off every time a bulb burns out.
*They make a good base for an HID projector retrofit for Bi-Xenon.

I checked out the Hella H4 conversion...says they aren't DOT approved? Hmmm...oh well
