i saw a dawg the other day w/ just key cylinders left in the doors...

it got me to thinkin, whats the chances of shaving the handles but leaving the door lock to pop the doors...???????

anyone done this?

You could run the rod from the key cylinder to a momentary switch that when pushed would pop the solenoid and open the door. Don't think the key would be strong enough if you just ran the rod straight to the door latch

I didn't even think bout that! Good idea.its a DD and all ya hear is nothing but nightmares w/ shaved doors. So ill shave pass side but trying to come up w/ something slick for driver door.

Done this in the past and it worked great. You have to take the passenger side key cylindar and put it on the drivers side. And snap in the rod that goes to the outside door handle. Had it like that for years with out an issue.

I shaved my doors and the first time I locked my keys inside was the last. Extra fob is worth it or a safety release cable, I have both just in case.

I had shaved doors on one of my trucks and I only had the keyhole on the drivers door. No popper or anything. ran it to the outside handle as mentioned above. works great for the year i had it that way

the key will work, i did that back in 90 and it worked fine for 15 years. just carefully bend the rod into the correct shape.
