hey guys, i recently made some custom headlight covers for my truck and thought i would share how easy and cheap it is to do.

the first thing you need to do is go to Lowes or Home Depot, or any hardware store maybe, and get some small sheets of lexan, Lowes had a 8x11 sheet for 3.50. Have them cut it to 7x6 (our stock headlight size).

next you will need some form of lens tint, i used tint film from a guy on ebay, spray probably wouldve worked better. tint the panels as dark as you like, they will be removable when done.

next you need some velcro squares, these can be found in the hardware section of Wal-Mart. apply 3-4 squares to the headlight itself near the edges, i used 3.

then attach the other side of the velcro to the ones on the headlight, then apply your tinted lexan panel, be careful to apply it straight as the tape on the velcro is strong and wont want to move without ripping.

and voila, you have a cheap, homemade, removable headlight cover that looks great!

cost tally:
lexan sheets $3.50 x2 = $7
tint film $12 for 12x48 roll ~ $2
velcro squares $3 for 12, used 6 = $1.50
total cost= $10

here they are on my truck

i was able to see at night with them on, but its not worth it as it was pretty dim, it only takes a matter of seconds to put them or take them off.

hope you enjoyed my first write-up.
please leave your comments/concerns about the mod and the write-up.
thanks, Chris

Good job dude! Maybe next time you can do a second version with small angle brackets and make a set that sits flush with the grille

Thanks!
that was my original plan, but there isnt quite enough room to do it that way.
the headlight sticks out just a bit on the outsides.
i only did this as a temporary thing until i do my ranger headlight conversion lol.
