tailgate fabrication

i have a few toys i like to haul every now and then but i dont have a tailgate. i am thinking about making one out of some 1" square tube and diamond mesh with a plate down the middle with a mazda logo push button latch (still working on exact details) has anyone "built" a good looking gate from scratch if so i would like some pics/input for ideas on my project.

this is a cheezy rendering of what i have in mind so far im no artist on a computer but i assure you the real thing will look top notch
