bed cover/brush guard

so I've been looking all over and cant find anyone who makes a truck bed cover for an 89 mazda 2600 4x4, any ideas on how to make one? i was thinking using Velcro on the outside of the bed and maybe a black tarp?

as for brush guards, anyone know where i can get one? i noticed the bumper is steel so maybe i can get any brush guard and tack weld it on?
