gas gauge

my gas gauge doesnt work anymore. it did when it went in the shop but now i got it out and put some new gauges in, it doesnt. is this a common prob. any ideas? thanks -bf

check to make sure some fuses arnt blown, i know mine quit working and luckly the fuse just blew

Ya this is a common problem for our trucks. Mine doesn't work (I haven't checked the fus tho) but i'm sure it's the sending unit.

I'm getting mine fixed fairly soon. It's probably a lot of work to chnage it plus a little pricy.

my friends works, well kinda, when he fills his tank all the way up, his gas guage only goes up to half? so its kinda hard to tell when hes running empty, lol. any one know what this would be? sending unit maybe?

I believe it's the sending unit. They're crappy. Not sure if the aftermarket ones work any better tho.

its the sending unit, the contacts have worn out, i ran into this problem before your best off chang doing the pump while your at it, so udont need to do it anytime soon
