Is that regular ply wood? it would sound way better if it was mdf...

Yeah was thinking that too. Looks good though. What are the specs of everything? Waht are you covering it with?

yes its reg. plywood, i figered why put a shitpot fulla $$ into a daily system, its 11/16" ply. and as for specs, in not sure what you mean but the sub is power acoustik mofo 12" (top of the line pa) 1200rms/2400max dual 2ohm
amp is 1200rms/2400max ma audio hard kore series. box isabout 2.20cubes, tuned to 38hz, single 3" port. anything else?

Do you have a port tube or just a hole in your box?
fanninator   +1y
tube. its painted black.

why would you go to all the trouble of tuning the frequency on the box and porting it, but then half ass it with plywood? not to be mean or anything but it doenst make sense to me, and you should have been able to build that whole set up with about $15 worth of mdf, how much did you really save with using plywood?
fanninator   +1y
trouble...what are you talking about? have you built ported box? man if you are going to just use calculators on the internet. i mean, how much time did it take to use 2 different numbers in a couple calculators on the12volt.com 3min? then how long did it take to measure and cut my pipe, 2 min? it was no trouble at all. me and my dad had a good time building it. we dont really get to hang out and do stuff together anymore bc i work 8am-5ish then go do shit with my girlfriend then come home and go to bed. we had a blast building it. heres a couple installed pics.

as you can see i added aother port to make it a lil louder. it sounds just as good as the box it came in which was $80 some bucks. there is absoultly ZERO sound difference, i thought i wanted it punchier but nah, i love it.

Thats awesome.

But for other people who want to attempt this it should be made with 3/4" MDF with a double face and inside supports. Plywood (no matter how thick) will flex and crack over time. Real woold has a grain and a flowing pattern in the actual wood. MDF is basically really dense cardboard with equal density and stress quality. Doubleing the face, which is the weakest part of the enclosure will stiffen it enough not to have any flex or affect the reflex of the sound. Bracking a large box such as this will also help tighten it up. Make sure to use lots of wood glue, which should seal the box and then use 100% silicone to ensure the seal. Even a ported box or bandpass box should be 100% sealed, except for the obvious ports.
