I have seen a few members on this site with bucket seats in their truck. If the truck came with a bench seat, how do you install bucket seats? The bolt patterns to hold the seat in would be off, and the bench seat dosen't need support in the middle where as bucket seats do. How do you do it? I own a '84 B2000, I would love some RX-7 seats or somthing to that affect.

The "platform" that the seats sit on is the same foer bench or bucket seat trucks.I dont believe that there is any mid-seat support for a bench seat. The inside holes where the buckets mount up have a plug in them where the bolts go.Out side holes sre the same.Get yourself a pair of buckets out of an 88-91 MAzda 626 or MX-6 and they will bolt right in there.BJ

my buckets are from a 1990 honda civic hatchback and they fit real nice in the truck. it wasnt hard to put them in, you can get the front inside hole to line up but the rest you will have to drill and tap. the only thing is, for the front outside, the metal is really thin right there you cant tap it but what i did was got a piece of 1/4" steel and drilled 2 holes in it and tapped one, one hole went to the stock bolt hole while the other went to the seat. it only took me like an hour and a half or so

Well Maztang, I might want to sell my bench seat and matching door panels. I spent over $1,200 on the reupholster job for the seat and matching door panels. I don't know what to ask for it. Here is a picture of the seat...

This is the bolt pattern I have.

I took the bench out of my '89 and factory buckets bolted right in place, all I had to do was remove 2 rubber grommets in the floor for where the 2 bolts weren't used for the bench.

I got a pair of bucket from a buddy for cheap so i decided to throw them in the other day. I will try to take some pics tonight. But my seasts did not bolt up. So what i did was took the rails off the bench seat.I used the drivers side rail from the bench seat and bolted it to the left side of the drivers bucket, the right side rail did not bolt to the floor. so i used some 2x2 squre and made a spacer and bolted that to the floor and it came out pretty good the seats are even and straight. like i said i will try to take some pics tonight. also when i did the right seat, the right frame rail on the bench seat does not have an adjuster. it has a wire that goes from the drivers side adjuster to the passenger rail. so i cut the adjuster handel from the buckets rail and welded it to the bench rail. if this sounds confusing, it will make more sense when i post the pics
hope that helps.
