fan doesn't work on 1,2 only on 3,4 which is often too much is this common? I took the dash apart and everything was hooked up right all I could figure was that the switch or motor are partialy broken. any ideas?

Somewhere, probably in the airduct, there is a set of power resistors that attenuates the 12 VDC voltage depending on your fan speed.

One, or more, of these resistors are burned. The resistors can have form of 2 or 3 coils.

It is normally located in the intake airduct, so that the resistors are cooled down by the cold intake air. Try to locate the intake air tube, and look for some wires that connects to some kind of small box on the tube.

Take out the glove box. The heater-blower resister that controls the 4 speeds is right under the glove box. 2 screws and unplug the wires. I bought a new one off e-bay for about
30 bucks.
