so here is the deal... i got a kicker L-7 12" the old style... with the huge magnet. i go to the local audio shops, no dice on a box, im doing my best to avoid building one. mostly because im a tech. not a carpender. so any ways i need a l7 truck box anyone know where i can cop one...

Thanks to all the guys who got me str8 on the drop

i run kicker subs in all my vehicles, the L7 12" subs can go in two types of boxes, sealed or ported, ported hits much much harder, but sealed is a cleaner tighter sound, in my opinion. i have never seen a " truck box " for an L7 but thats not to say they dont exist or cant be made.

according to kickers specs on there website the 12" L7 in a sealed box requires a minimum of .88 cubic feet, so a little uner 1 cubic foot sealed, you should be able to get your local audio shop to build that for you for no more that $75 carpeted, at least in my area and they should be able to build it to fit behind your seat as well. i have a local box builder that could build one for you if need be and he is a great box bilder, get a hold of me if you want me to get you price and info, but keep in mind shipping will probably be about $40 due to weight of it

good luck

hey man you will find it aot easier than you think if you build your own plus you can get a better fit than a prefab. i plan to get a 10" l7 and leave it in a sealed box. if you have the tools build it. if you have any qs about building, just ask there are a few of us that can help ya out alot. also what amp are ya runnin? -bf

I would say look for some bucket seats if you don't already have some and do a center console with the sub downfiring. I just woudn't think that there would be enough room without having the seat al the way up for that sub.

i know its ex cab but my point is, you can build somethin to specs easier then you can buy one... more then likely it'll be cheaper too!

Question - do you mind cutting and welding? If not, an option is what I did. The big useless bump in the middle of the back wall was cut out, framed with 1.5" angle iron with a sheet of steel welded to the angle iron. The end result is basically a 1" outward bump in the back of the cab that is the exact size of the sub box. This also allowed for the large magnet size of the Fosgate Punch 10" sub mounted behind/between the bucket seats with the magnet IN the box. My box was .65 cu.ft. If you need .88 cu.ft it should not be that hard to get the extra space. This setup also left a fair amount of room behind both seats for ???? Can post a pic if needed.

Pic of back wall after cut out and metal installed.

Exterior shot with metal pokin thru. New sheet metal is attached to that metal strip along the back of the cab.

And finally, a pic of the sub box installed. Will eventually be candy green like the rest of the dash (See Immortal progress pics in Photo Post)
