Hey everyone. First off, Im just wondering what everyone has for stereo setups, and what kind of advice you would give if you were to do it all over again.

Ive got

2-Clarion 4" Speakers in the Dash (Which pretty much suck.)
Kenwood CD/Mp3
Kenwood/Sirius Satellite Radio
4 6.5" Clarion Speakers in my Doorpods (To go in soon)
Clarion 640.4 Amp.
thread post photo

I want to see how it sounds after i get my doorpod speakers in..right now the treble is so high i pretty much get headaches listening to it. lmao.

Second, I want to add 2 subs in the near future. Im thinking of keeping it clarion, since everything else is pretty much clarion. I listen to alot of older rock stuff like Tom Petty..Neil Young, that sort of stuff. What size of Sub should i get? I was kind of thinking a set of 12s?..I would imagine i would run them through a 1000-1500w amp. Besides the amp and sub, what kind of electronics would i need? (cap and that sort of stuff?) (This truck already has a built alternator, because it used to have 2 JL 18"s and 4 JL 6.5"s)

and also, for the sound im going for..which would be the best box design?

Thanks for your time everyone

Since you're a rocker got with a sealed box for sure. I'm a metal head myself with ocassional need for some bumpin lol.

I had 2 lil W0 JL's and a Kenwood 600 watt amp that did plenty for me. Now I've dropped down from it...cost and space wise...to a JVC 12" sub and amp combo from Crutchfield for $130+ for the set lol, and honestly it hits just as hard or maybe even harder and it's about $500 cheaper and takes up half the space lol. Bought a cheap Scosche premade box from Wal-MArt for about $30 and it fit perfectly behind the pass seat, rear firing

I also have a Pioneer deck...the one thing I'd like to change honestly cuz I don't like the treble these things put out. I've got Eclipse 4" in the dash and 2 6.5" Kenwood...I think Excelon, on a shelf I custom built behind the seats. I think you can see pics in my photo post thread of the shelf and 6.5"s.

I've grown out of the "need everyone in the world to hear and feel me" stage lol, and decided after reviews to go with my single 12" JVC. It's still plenty for my neighbors and cars around me to hear if I want them to, but I really love having 75% of the area behind my seats available for storing stuff if I want My JL box took up about the whole rear area under my shelf...along with the amp. Plus I don't have much battery drain.

Anywho, that's mine and what I'd change.

Oh yeah I'd love a better place for the dash speakers but I don't like door pods cuz your leg blocks a lot of the sound from the driver's door, and I've seen no other placement I think I'd like yet, so...

well im runnin a kenwood head unit also with 4-tweets around the top and 4-4" memphis in the factory spots (under dash and on post by seatbelts) with a 1100 memphis belle amp to 2-12" pioneer pancakes. Im also runnin a ps2 built into the sub-box with a 12" flip-down where the rear view went and all this is in my single cab truck. i didnt want to clutter up the door panels with bulky pods but thats just me -B

I have a Sony CDXF7710 52x4w CD/mp3/wma headunit w/remote. Wicked deck, but it skips easily, even on some cds that seem really clean. It's got a built in equalizer and crossovers, and pretty much every aspect of the sound is minutely adjustable to acheive the perfect sound, and it also has a seperate subwoofer control. It's a pretty sweet deck, and has all sorts of crazy animations and displays and stuff. I'd highly recommend it.

My speakers are 4" 110w Pioneer TS-G1041R in the dash. They sound pretty good.

Behind the seats,I've got a pair of 220w 6x9 3-way Pioneers in boxes. They face up and sound pretty good. you get wicked sound in a standard cab because it's so small.

I want to go with probably one or two 10" Kicker L7 subs. I'll most likely go with one,and mount it between the seats and keep the 6x9s behind the seats. Dunno what amp I'll use,but I'd like to hook the speakers up to an amp as well rather than just run them off the head unit.

I'm like you too,I listen to mostly rock and stuff,so I like to have my mids and highs a little bit of thump. I like to hear all the sounds and have a crisp, clear sound, and not have the bass overpowering everything.

hey FrameLayinB2200, is that on the stock electrical. got any pics?

How do you run more than 4 speakers speakers in these trucks? Mine was only set up for 2,because it was a standard cab. When I put my Sony HU in,I then installed the 6x9s because I had enough wires from the headunit harness to run another pair of speakers,so I'm maxed out at 4 with my factory and headunit harnesses. I think maybe I have enough with my 4s and 6x9s and then a sub. I should have sufficient highs, mids and lows with that.

I'm running Kenwood headunit, 4" up front, 800watt amp. And thats connected to a Rocford 12" Punch in a sealed box I built to fit inbetween the seats. (to provide cup holders and arm rest) I've been really impressed with sound quality. I also got a 1 farad capacitor
