i now have my L-7 in the box behind my seat... however the bass is good... just not loud enough im pushing 1200w. to it and in the sealed enclosure you can hardly hear it outside the truck without the windows or doors open.. so im wondering what to do... whats gonna make it louder or should i trade out for something harder... and whats harder than an L-7?

If you have room put it in a ported box tuned to about 30 to 32 hz and it will pound on 1200 watts.

One other thing... Do you have the electrical system in your truck to back up that much power? If not you amp might be cllipping and killing the output of your sub.

yes a ported box will make it twice as loud for sure, also why do you want to hear it outside your truck? the whole point of it is to keep the sound inside the cab, if you can hear it outside your truck you will most likely have some pretty nasty distortion

to me a good system is heard in the vehicle not in the street, but if thats not what you want, undersize your box airspace and port it, and power power power, like fantom said. And the more cone surface area the better, Std cab or Ext cab?
And aim yer sub at the headliner, trust me.

when you say tuned box... im not really sure what you mean by that? but i just enjoy the attention that a good booming sound gets your crusin... and its a std. cab

careful waht you wish for, that attention isnt always GOOD attention, thiefs also like it when they hear a booming system as do cops

And do people a favor. When you stop at a red light PLEASE turn it down until you start moving again. And don't have it up in drive through lines, (fast food), man I hate that

Very true

When you port the box, the port area and length change the way the box sounds. What ever you tune it to is your cut off on how low your speaker will play. 30 to 32 Hz is a good daily driver tuning. It wont play any notes below that tuning. You will have to cut those out or the speaker could possible blow trying to play that low. The box cant control the cone movement under the tuning frequency.

where do i find the diameter for the port.. or buy if need be the plastic port?
