ok of installed my fair share of sysetems but by no way am i a speaker GURU...at work i can get free 4x8 sheets of high density fiberboard..was wondering if it too would be sutible for speaker boxes i hate thowin the stuff away its like 80 bucks a sheet at home depot..anyways someones gotta know
YES,IT WILL WORK GREAT.AS LONG AS IT IS 3/4 OR THICKER,AND ISNT THE CHIPBOARD STUFF....IDEALLY IT WOULD LOOK LIKE EXTREMELY FINE SAWDUST THAT HAS BEEN COMPRESSED TO FORMYOUR SHEET.HOPE THIS HELPS,GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOX(S).
man where you work...i get free produce boxes thats bout it. it doesnt haveto be 3/4 thick, mines like 11/16 which is .68" close but my old one had a mtx tunder 4500 with a 450wt amp and it was 1/2" and was fine. but unless its a big sterio then i ouldnt worry bout it, my new one is gona be outa 1/2-11/16 because i need room between the seats. -bf
3/4 is the minimum that I would ever use with a double face (1 1/2" face where sub is mounted).
And yes that MDF/HDF is worth something. Load them up in your truck and take them to your local stereo shops/interior shops and give it to them for half of what it is at the depot. Put some green in your pocket!!!
yea like i got time for more runnin around!....im gonna stockpile it till the summer i got about 8 sheets now... i get about four or 8 of them a month..
its what out cabinet parts are protected with during shipping...the onlything is its laminated on both sides white.. but i dont think it should make much difference.. shit ill build a workbench.. or a shed out of this stuff i just hate wasting anything..
