would a bandpass box help???

i have to 12" pioneers in my cab plus, they sound alright i guess to a point but when you turn them up you start to hear a lot of echoing and pretty much just flat out distortion. but i know if i were to take them and put them in the trunk of a 4 door sedan they would sound great. im not an expert at all but i think its got to do with the way the sond waves bounce around in the cab plus. i dont really know anything about bandpass boxes except the speakers are sealed up usually behind plexyglass. right now my subs are in a split sealed trunk box. if i built a bandpass box would it help?? or what would help, maybe better positioning or a different angle? thanx for any help.

Sounds like you either don't have the correct air space in the box or not enough power to run them good.

What model 12s and amp are you running.

I had 2 12" Orion XTRs on a 250HCCA in my old single cab and it pounded pretty good and sounded great.

There could be many things affecting the sound. Check to see if you have a switch on the amp that has either hp or off or lp you want it on low pass. And then check the required air space for that speaker and compare to what you have. I had two solo baric L7 12s and 2 2400 watt amps in my ext cab and it did hit hard,but they were facing up, I took I sub and amp out turned the sub to face the side wall and it only dropped my db by 3. So check everything and then move your subs close to any of the walls and see if it make a diff.

yeah i always keep my amp on low pass. maybe i need someone with more expierience to help me tune my amp and deck. i was just thinking if i built a bandpass box then the placement and anlgles really wouldnt matter as much... right?

DONT build a bandpass box, u wont be able to hear when the subs start distorting, then you'll end up killing them, and if u were to build a band pass to the correct air space the box would be huge!, build a ported box most bang for the buck, depends how big u build it u can run more eficiently

well i wouldnt mind a box that filled up my cab plus, but i dont wanna blow my speakers. lol

That amp is only rated at 35 x 4 and bridged to 90 x 2 at 4 ohms. It doesn't appear to be 2 ohm stable when bridged. I think that amp is a little small to be running 2 12" subs off of. I would try to get an amp that will put atleast 250 wrms into each sub and make sure your box is the right size for the subs.

A ported box is a good idea, but again I don't think you have enough power to run those subs in a ported box.

its not the truck i agree with the airspace comment. also watch the subs when they are hitting, if the speaker looks like its trying to hop out of itself than chances are you've maxed it out and need to get higher level subs. i have an ex cab with 2 he2 10's and i never had any problem but the roof vibrating.

thanks to everyone for your help and insite. before i put my new deck in my subs looked like they wanted to jump out of the box but thats better now. ill get a tape measure tomorrow and figure the cubic feet of my box.

thats the stats on my amp, it seems like its not enough to power my subs, yet at the same time my subs sound like they cant handle all of it. wouldnt i be safe to build a bandpass box if my speakers are rated for more than my amp puts out?
