I see that everyone with a 86-93 mazda has to use an adapter but I am just wondering do I have to use one. My steering wheel just uses 1 bolt 17mm and blam its off. Any suggestions?

No, you may not have to use an adapter. But surely there must be some type of indexing pin to keep the wheel from slipping on the steering shaft.

Uh.... my '89 just had one bolt too. Did I miss something?

The stock steering wheel is splined onto the steering column. The nut holds the wheel on, but does nothing to keep if from turning on the shaft. Most aftermarket steering wheels come with a big hole in the middle, 3 smaller holes around it to attach the necesary adapter (which has the correct splines for your vehicle) and usually 1 extra hold for the horn kit.

Slammed below is a link for your truck

This is a pic from the above link. Ya get the splined aluminum adapter, the horn ring, and the black cover which goes over the aluminum adapter.
