cd player help

ok so i hooked a cd player and it turns on and everything works. but for some reason the speakers dont work. i hooked up the speakers directly to the deck (not through the truck wiring) and they still didn't work. when i turned the volume up all the way, i could kinda here the music but thats with my ear next to the speaker. i know the speakers work cuz there new. i'm thinking its the head unit. but i dont know. i just took it out of my other car and it was working fine in the other car. its a couple months old. do you guys think its the head unit?

Sounds like the outputs are burnt out, or theres a speaker wire touching another!
What kinda deck is it? Pioneers are bad for burning up the outputs..

i'm not sure what kind of deck it is. what do you mean by outputs buring out? like inside the deck? and i know the wires aren't touching. i'll just have to fool around with it some more and after it pisses me off enough i'll just buy a cheap one off craigslist just to see if its the deck or not.

Yeah there inside the deck, u can use an amp and use the rca jacks!
But it's just as cheap to buy another deck!

It sounds like either a short, or you burned out the powered amp in the head unit. Double check your wiring. Pull the head unit out, and run a short wire right to a speaker in your lap. If it wont sound off, its the head unit. Are you sure your speakers are good? For sure, for sure?

ya thats what i did and the speakers barely made any sounds at full volume. and i know that they are good because they were working in another car. i also took speakers out of my mom's volvo and tried those and it still did the same thing. its weird that its the head unit cuz i was working right before i took it out of another car. but i guess i'll just get a new deck. thanks

i agree. i had this happen in my truck when i first put the speakers in the door. all i did was cut a hole out and screw the speakers directly into the door. when i turned the unit on i couldnt hear anything unless i turned it all the way up and even then it was hardly anything. i unscrewed the speaker from the door and almost went deaf.
