childs seat

So, how do you guys mount your kid's car seats? I was thinking of pulling out the rear cushions and reversing the one seat belt to make a middle seat belt and mounting it that way. Sound safe to you guys? anyone with pics of theirs mounted?

i put mine in backwards with the stock seats and belts you really dont want to start modding anything when it comes to your childs saftey

my little guy is too big for a rear facing seat. the belts would still be bolted down to the stock locations just moved so that the seat is in the middle. I just think it would be safest in the center of the truck.

move the short buckle to the lower front belt bolt on the floor board and putem in sideways (like a ranger is mounted) it gives the rear passengers a shit ton more room plus you can fit a larger carseat in easier

yea didnt think of that one but they are still right next to the side facing either way hell i dont kno my kids dont really ride in my truck tho sept the older one and he rides up front

I would just put it in there normally or in the front passenger seat. I would not put it in the middle. That is actually not the safest. in the event of an accident (especially with small children) if they are behind the seats they will hit the back seat instead of the windsheild. I know terrible right....well no if you look at the shape of a forward facing car seat it is top heavy. The base will move but not as much as the top. Wel the top will jolt forward and would hit the seat in front. Well most forward facing seats are about 5" taller than the kids that fit in them. When it leans it creates a pocket for the kid to stay safe and not get crushed. If in the middle the child could be slung into or through the windsheild. Now if you move it so that the seats face the middle of the truck like a ranger or my b3000 You are no more vulnerable in a t-bone than if you were facing forward. You see the seat belt mounts on stock trucks like this are really close to the bottom of the seat. So in the event of a t-bone the seat belts and seat will move towards the center of the truck together. Again going back to the tall backs that acts like a barrier to help protect from glass and debris. The thing to rember is car seats are designed to be small plastic roll cages for infants and toddlers.
Wheww.... Longest post ever. I was really concerned about this as well and confided in my pops. Well just so happens that he is a police officer and lead accident investigator for the small department he works for. He has had lots of training on this stuff. Oh yeah one more thing....the front seat being pretty safe is partially because of the shoulder strap.
