The popping sound you are refering to is probably the voicecoil bottoming out and smacking the backplate. Not good. If you are hearing that you are pushing your subs too hard...

if i had the money i;d go with the JL audio thinline 13'' it sounds better then alot of systems around here, and imagine just one sounding better then a couple 12's pushin 1000 watts each!!

but the problem is making a good box for it and it costs $650

RE SX is GREAT. (any RE sub is GREAT, lol)

JL = WAAAAAY overpriced.

Pair of TW 13s = $1500...

Rembmer fellas. Shallow = REDUCED STROKE.

STROKE = MOVING AIR

MOVING AIR = AUDIBLE BASS

AUDIBLE BASS = WHAT YOU PAY FOR

MTX has a pretty bad thin sub, as well as Kole and even PowerAcoustik. Yeah, PA thin subs on a PA3000D will rock ur socks off.

(btw, my cvxs sound better than TW5s.)

damn, i never saw this post. haha. yeah dev was with me when i bought mine, and he will tell you i got a killer deal. i bought the 12" sub for the price of the 10" 150 bucks, and i love it. it hits hard as hell. i haven't heard any popping though, just nice clean crisp bass. it handles 1400 watts max and i am only feeding it 1000 watts, if that. i like it, now i just need to beef up my highs so i can quite drowning them out.

mb quart and diamond also make shallow mount subs. i believe the mb quart model is the rsh 304, and the diamond is the hex shallow sub. dont know how either of them sound though.but no matter which way you go research a little on all your choices and make a decision based on your personal preferences.and remember you get what you pay for and even the best subs can sound crappy if their not in a well designed well built enclosure.
