ok i installed my deck andn the dash light(mph) went out... i thought that the bulb broke but my friend said that my tail lights wasnt working but the brake lights would come on when i press it.. and the side markers in the front would be on but very dim n when i turn up the sounds it would flash brighter to the beat of the song... then i checked my fuses n the tail(10) fuse instead of useing a 10 fuse i slapped a 15 n the lights started working...but i noticed that when i turn the lights off the deck turns on and when i turn the lights on the deck turns off.. so i put back the 10 and im back where i began any help??

sounds to me like u need a power regulator for ur system, that will get rid of the lights flashing to the beat

its in the wiring behind the radio. you are using the dimmer wire as your ground. the wire rests at ground but when you turn your lights on it turns into 12v therefore your radio loses ground and turns off. either that or you have an alpine radio and it has 2 illumination leads, 1 neg and 1 12v and youre using the wrong one.

whats lumination do?

when you cut your lights on it dims the radio some so you dont have a bright ass radio at night

the red/black stripe wire shouldnt be connected to anything, or only the orange wire comming from the deck if it has one

my truck does not have a lumination wire coming from the truck itself, but im not worried. i have an in dash dvd player haha, gonna be bright no matter what =\

You should cut the negative wire and re earth it to something, just in case you have picked up on the dimming wire and used it as the stereo negative.
When you turn your lights on it will be putting power back into the stereo through the negative side and most electrical components don't like that.
Guy I know did it and has a small fire under the dash.
