Anyones ever go out? Mine wasn't working when I got my truck. Where do I start? Fuse, instrument cluster, sending unit?????

try pulling the sending unit outta the tank and cleaning the contacts. they get built up with stuff and stop working because of no contact.

^^ if that no worky then go to ur nearest junkyard and then find a cluster .. sit down .. tear it apart... grab the gas gauge part .. put it in ur bag .. .. and walk out .. haha lol

its the sending unit as layed out describe you will nee to bend the contact bar as well so it makes a good connection....these trucks are famous for this

so lets bring this topic back...

how many plugs are on the stock tank? just the one w/ 2 connectors?

Hmm Mine does something crazy too...
If its full it will read empty...
It will gradually work its way to half....
then it will work its way down from half to empty...

I have not attempted anything yet... The dimmer switch is my first electrical gremlin....
Nothing like hitting a bump and not seeing your speedo, then another and it magically illuminates... The contacts in the reastate are cluttered with 22 years of dust and crap.... I will be writing a full write up with pictures and tools needed to do the job.

Has to with Ohm's, not polarity. It will never work with the stock mazda gauge correctly. You will have to either run a gauge that has the same Ohm rating as your sending unit, or adapt your stock unit to the RCI cell. And also did you get the aluminum cell? You will have to support it from underneath. The little tabs that are on it are to hold it still, not hold it up.

Yeah I have the aluminum cell. Just in the bed for now.
