I need some help...i installed a system in my truck after the install i kept getting problems with the battery not charging...i had the 105 amp alt in there at first but when i turned on the system it fried the alt...so now i do not have the system hooked up to any power source and replaced the alt but the alt is not charging the battery...does anyone know why this might be? and help determine what i could do to fix it...the current alt i have in the truck is the 60amp stock alt from autozone...would really appreciate any help

well what kinda system you have ?i ve done a bunch of mazdas and never had a problem was all the stereo equipment new ,could there be anything wrong with that stuff ,also upgrade to at least 4 guage ,do you have extra batteries ,upgrade ground from alternator and power from alternator ,double check to see if battery has gone bad just a few suggestions

hmmmm it is an after market alty? if that is the case do you have the turn on wire hooked up?

it was the stock alty and it ended up being the battery it had a bad cell must have been when i hooked up the cap well it is fixed thanks for the help from everyone...and the system is a rockford fosgate with inifinity sub woofer so it should not have taken that much power but i think it was the cap that was pulling too much power i will stick with the regular hook up with out the cap..thanks again

I had a similar problem with my Cadillac. Had a full stereo system in it and a new battery. One day the car started running like crap while I was driving. I was already having problems with it,but thought that the motor had finally bitten the dust.

Turns out the plates in my battery collapsed and touched and shorted it out.

Yah Id say thats a bad battery too.

try adding another battery in the back. it will help you a ton more then a cap. they are almost pointless if you cant charge them rapidly.

i took the cap out and it ended up being a bad battery and bad alt they were saying that the circuit somewhere in my truck was not complete and then i remember that my buddy didnt ground out my dvd player so that is prolly what it is...i am gonna ground it out and take a look to see if that solves it if not well then i am back at square one

just get one of those. i dont think the dvd player would make the alty not work. i would check to make sure all the ground wires are tight though. and power wires as well. from chassis to bat and from bat to alty.
