Amp Problem

ok, so i am running a sony 1200 watt amp to my 12 inch orion sub. it sounded great but i wanted more. it has rockford t series speakers all around. so i decided to put my 500 watt amp on the speakers. now all i get is this whineing noise when the engine is running. i tried to put both the grounds on the same one, teh seat bolt where the sub was before and sounded great. i also tried to dis connect the sub amp, still does it. i tried new rca cables, still does it... whats next?

do you have rcas running next to power wire ?and are they sheilded rcas .it only started when you added the high amp correct try checking all speaker leads indiviually maybe one is grounding out ?

The seat bolt is a horrible place to ground an amp. You should find a place on the floor as close to the amp as possible and remove the paint from that spot and ground it to the floor.

Exactly what they said. Give each amp its own ground. RCA's need to be atleast 6 inches away from the power wire.

also if your rca's cross either your power or ground wire for either amp, try to route them in a diff way, and if you can't and they have to cross the make sure they cross at exactly a 90 degree angle.

ground loop isolator

Mine did that when my RCA's were a little loose. Also if you're using a Y RCA connection for a 4 channel amp that will do it to.

That's a bandaid not the proper way to fix it.

yep forgot about y jacks sometimes create noise too good one

well i am running a 2 channel, on the 4 speakers... just dont have adjustability, that i dont really care for anyway. i will try making a better ground when i get time, this thing has to be dropped lower before anything.
