Alright, I am about to go crazy, I installed my stereo when I first got my new truck just like I did in the old truck I had and it worked great. Then this last Friday I am driving along, and my stereo just cut out, at first I thought it was my iPhone which I use for my music, so I checked it and it was not the problem so I try a cd and that wasn't the problem, so when I get to where I was going I checked my amp and i had a loose wire from moving my seat forward so my friend could drive. Well I just taped up the wire and went on my way, and I just had time to look at it today and I hooked back up all the wires, and got nothing, no beeps from the head unit nothing. So after I did that I check the amp and it was powering up because the light was on, but just to make sure I went through everything and made sure I had no blown fuses etc. Then when I found nothing wrong I disconnected one of the wires and went strait from headunit to speaker and got results, aka beeping music etc. But now I can't tell if there is something wrong with my amp or if it is something else, also my amp is kind of weird instead of using the component cable, it uses the wires coming out of my headunit that usually go to the speakers for instance left front, right front, right rear, and left rear if that makes any sense. Also my headunit is cheap and doesn't have the outputs on it other wise I would be using component cables, I am about ready to buy a new headunit, but I want to kind of go through all my options first.

One of our local car audio places makes these

They change low level inputs into RCA's, you could always try something like that if you've blowen your inputs.
Don't forget to check the amp fuses on the end or side, they blow really quickly.
If you've severed the wire sheath on the seat runner you might have earthed the outputs which would definitly burn out the circuit, I did that once, lights on but no-one home, had to bin it after that

Try hooking a speaker directly to a channel coming out of the receiver and not using the amp. If that works you know its not your head unit.

If a speaker/speaker wire grounds out the headunit will retain power and cause the sound to drop. Check each speaker wire individually and make sure they are not grounded out. If you run across a shorted wire, That will mostlikey be your problem.

Sounds like you answered your own question, when you disconected the one wire.

Also if you get a LOC Line Output Converter you can run Composite cables to the rear for the amp. Component cables are Video Cables "RGB". I would start where sosa started with checking power. If all the power is good, Might have a shorted speaker/High Level Input wire.
