I was wondering what everyones doing for sound systems and I figured we could make this into a general audio thread, just for the little questions that don't merit a new thread. I also thought I should post this: It's instructions for setting gain on an amp. So back to my main question. what is everyone running for sound systems? I need ideas, and I want high volume with ballance.

well everyone's is different but i ran numeruos systems ,from 6 jl audio 15s to 2 12's to 2 10's all depends on your budget .i build alot of kickpanels with 5.25 components ,so id say people are running kicks for mids ,and some 6.5s in the doors ,if you have an ex cab ,id run 2 12s or me personally 3 15s ,but thats me ,or if you have a standard cab ,id run some good subs in a console ,and of course amplify everything ,just my 2 cents

it's a standard cab, and thats what I was thinking. I was thinking about saving for this one and doing it right, so high pass on the 4's in the dash, a couple of 6 1/2's in the kicks or doors and behind the seat, and maybe 2 8 inch subs behind the seats. has anyone used any of Fusion's speakers? They seem to have a decent price, and if they sound good, the green will compliment my interior (hopefully) lol. I was thinking about the encounter speakers. I know they aren't rated very high (rms) but It should do what I need.

i sold them for a while but i only like the jonha luma is i spelled that rigth ,pretty beasty subs for the money ,but honestly ,if you wanna good speaker for the price get ma xl or precison power flat pistons ,for the price cant go wrong ,i ran 2 8xl in a console and they hit harder than the 2 12s bro

to be honest, subs are last on my list. I can live with the bass from 6 1/2's for a little bit. I haven't had subs before, and my moms truck has a bose sound system, plenty of bass from component 6 1/2's. i know I wont be going component, but I've had four 6 1/2's un amped (blaupunkt TS series) and they sounded decent, just no volume.

well if you wanna just amp the highs ,i only run 75 x 4 ,i never run more ,cause if you get a real mosfet amp 75x4 is way plenty

well at the moment, in my olds I have two 3 1/2's and two 6x9s. and with the 6x9's amped (100 watts max, 60 watts RMS) you cant hear the un-amped 3 1/2's. and if I shift the ballence to the front to try to hear them, they pop when the bass hits. even at low volume. (probly blown but my 6x9s are too now so I'll just buy new 6x9s)

Ok I'll use this audio post for my question then.
I've recently updated/upgraded my sub from a pioneer to an alpine and would like to know the best way to hook it up?
The sub I have is a DVC type, Alpine SWS-1243D 4ohmx2
power range: 50-300 watts RMS (150 watts per coil) 300w max

And the amp I am running is a Alpine MRP-M350 digital monoblock (class D, aren't they all?)
200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (350 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

Currently I have it set up so the positive from amp feeds into + then piggyback to next + then the amp negative feeds into - then piggyback onto other -
Like this .

The question I have is this the best setup for my sub/amp package as I have never used DVC subs before

for the set up you have thats the best way to go !!!

Sweet thanks, I was unsure if I had hooked it up properly as I heard if done wrong it can change the impedance from the 2ohm that I wanted to 8ohm (power supplied from the amp I guess)
