I am taking my headliner down to install a sliding rag, I got all the plastic down, the clips out, mirror, sunvisors, all that... Its still held in at the front and back windows, and the bars that are running across. Anybody know how to get it down, at least from the back window... I'm kinda starting to think the back window might be coming out...but then theres gotta be a way to do it with it in...

I got it out...for anybody else that pulls their headliner start with either the front and back window. there is a plastic piece made on the headliner, it slides up into a groove all the way across. (the back window is under the seal, just pull the seal back a lil, and get the plastic started coming out and it will come the rest of the way.) Make sure you get these two pieces down before you start yanking the cross bars out, if you want to save your stock headliner for any reason.

Couple questions mazdaman, so you took the whole back window out then?? and the step up bed you have on the truck in your sig, what truck is that from?? any modding had to be done to fit it?? I was looking at doing something like that, i like the look

thanx

if you are careful you maybe able to get the headliner out with out pulling the glass all the way out but you will need to pull it out some from the top as the liner sets under the sill, and is glued some but the glue is really ez to pull off, it is ezer if you start from the back and work to the front..........and yes i did a lot of work to the the bed, its a 1996 ford ranger bed, theres a lot guys that put the ranger bed on but iv never seen one put on that looked right,so i wanted to be different, the bed is wider then the cab of a mazda by 4 inches and so i cut it in half and took 4 inches out and welded it back, most of the ones iv seen they just cut the steps down to look right but to me it still dont look right,.... iv not dont it yet but will need to work on the body under the step as the bed rolls under and the mazda cab rolls out..... and it a petpeeve of mine but i like the tires in the middle of the fenders so i cut the frame and shortind it 1inche to put the tires and axle in the middle(was all the way up in the notch so couldnt just move the axle),,, if you do the bed make sure you try and keep as much floor as you can, i dont have any floor and it flexes bad, the sides are fiberglass and the tailgate is metal so cant weld it shut....if you want you can ask me more but i cant thank of any thing else right now

OK just took the headliner out. wasn't too bad, i tore the ends a bit but no biggy. so i did it just like J$C said, was able to get the plastic out a bit and was then able to work it out, without removing the back window to remove the rod thingies, i started with the back. pulled the middle of the rod toward the front of the truck ( this made it bow) and was able to pull the rods out pretty easily (did the same for all 3). the front plastic came off easliy after that.
