so yesterday started out fine, i drove the truck to work, lunch, home, the mall. then when i was leaving the mall i put the key in the ignition and it didn't want to turn, i took it out, then put it back in and tried again. it turns, but it doesn't want to, and then once i get the truck cranked, its almost impossible to turn the key backwards to turn the truck off. so this morning i took the two column pieces off, and took the ignition switch out, it turns fine. its just metal piece that the key goes into that doesn't want to turn.

any ideas of how to fix this or what could be causing it?

Yeah, or take it all apart and clean and lube it, but then you may get it back on only to find out it still does it. I would probably try though..LOL. Good luck. -Ed

what about some wd40 in the ignition? or if you don't wanna spray it in, then spray some on the key, it worked for my dodge caravan, LOL!!!

or some dry extra fine graphite lube. vatozone has it for $2, put a few puffs in there and work the key in and out a few times then back and forth should free it up. i know it works great on hard to turn house dead bolts.
