I figured I would just start one thread to document the progress of my new found ride, instead of posting over and over on different things, that way I can keep a running thread of my progress, with pics if I remember to do that. Lets go back, shall we? {Insert TV fade squence here}

I bought my truck for a grand from out back of a stereo shop in Oklahoma, where it had sat for just over two years. The kid brought it there, and had work done, but never paid the bill. He finally just signed the title over to the shop, and let them have it. My freind lives around the corner and had been pestering the shop owner to sell it to me, but he wouldn't. Apparently cash in the face helps, as I now own it. When I took possession of it, the shop had been keeping trash in the bed, including panties, a TV, nine million beer cans, and assorted garbage.

When I picked it up, it stayed running long enough to drive up on the trailer, scraping ass the whole way.

So from there, I drove to the local car wash, to blast some of the two years worth of mold, sap, bird shit and dirt off before presenting my prize to my lovely wife.

Unfortunately, when I got home, it wouldn't start, and I had to work on it in the street for an hour before it would.

This truck is the complete definition of "bootleged". It has door poppers that don't pop, an un matching interior, is missing numerous parts needed to run, and the horn and lights don't work. The seats are ill fitting and ill working, and the interior came to me in boxes.

What was I thinking again?

That weekend (two days ago) I drove two hours to a guy who said he was parting out a B-Series, and it was in good shape. He forgot to tell me it had been stuffed between a semi and a guardrail, then parted out for a month, but ah well. I was able to get two doors, the fuel computer, a non brown steering wheel, wiper arms, fuel filler surround, assorted nuts and bolts, and some trim pieces for under $80. I grabbed the stereo holder too, but damn if it wasn't busted to hell.

So that took most of my day, so yesterday, I managed to go out and plug the computer in to my lonely plugs. Unfortunatly, the door popper control is mounted in the way of the computer, and I can't relocate it yet.

Then I removed the oversized door panels, and I may re-use the stock ones for now, but I dunno.

Then I installed my sunvisors, removed the crap ass steering wheel and shift knob.....

....and the crappy brown ignition cover.

Then my camera died. I'll post a picture of the interior when I get home. It looks better w/o all this crap, even though parts are missing. I spent the rest of the evening lining up other parts I need.

Reminds me of EXACTLY what my truck looked like when i first got it. Minus the door poppers.
Interior came to me in a box... seats weren't even for the truck... terrible condition... pieces missing... (These included important things such as a RAD)

But you got farther in days than i have in years.

Great progress, Keep it up!

Well, I managed to get some work done today. Not major work compared to bags and such mind you, but I did manage to get some stuff done.

Well, I started with a box of parts from dropped90 and dragginmazda86 and a shit bird mazda truck.

First thing I did was install the chrome tailights I got from member airedout89. I like the look of these better than the altezzas. Don't worry about running my tag #, I have no idea what it goes to. I just put it there to keep from getting pulled over. It doesn't really have tags.

So since the surround for the gas door was busted, and the gas door was missing, I replaced those first.

Then I installed the steering column cover from Justin...

And the stereo console from dragginmazda86.

Then I installed wiper blades off my parts bitch. Of course I sanded them and painted them gloss black, but I didn't take a pic. Sue me.

Then I took out the passenger window, so I could install the interior plastic on that side.

So I got all the plastics on the passenger side rear put in. Didnt get to the drivers yet.

The valve cover is leaking, so I removed all the air breather stuff..

And the valve cover. Look at this crap inside.

So I cleaned, sanded, and primed the valve cover. I primed with high temp (1200 degrees) paint. I then painted with Rustoleum premuim spray paint. Came out okay. Not great. I spared you the progress pics.

I fabbed up an air cleaner from an old VW breather of mine. Its sorta functional.

Here it is again with the stock breather.

Lastly I installed my rearview mirror.

Anyway, the damn valve cover is still leaking in the same spot. I dunno. Maybe the valve cover is warped. Hmm.. Then I went to the car wash and vaccumed up crap from the interior. Its coming along slowly, as weather permits.
