i got bored. so before i knew it, i was on my way home from autozone, bought a can of high temp primer, hight temp black paint, and high temp clear. and next thing i know im taking the valve cover off. washed her down with a hot water and soap, many many time with a scrub brush. then with some simple green, then with hot water and soap again. then rinsed her off a few times, sanded down a few rough spots, rinsed again, then a layer of the high temp primer. here is after 2 coats. it will be done today, ill post pics as i go along.

another thing you could do for detail is after you paint it black and before the clear, sand the three bars down to silver then clear the whole thing a few times. thats what I did to an extra one I had.

or give them a quick stuff and paint the three bars the same colour as your truck

Looks nice!!! I always thought about sanding the three bars down to "shave" the valve cover and then paint it. Good job.
