Dude...I f'n hate Califonia's smog laws. I took the Howler last week for it's smog check and I didn't pass because when some type of gas was injected into my gas tank, the probe did not detect it at the carbon canister under the hood. Appaerntly this is a new test for the gas tank emissions system. The bottom line is no one knows how to fix it and I am stuck with two Mazdas I can't f'n drive! This weekend I have to pull the bed off the truck, trace all of the hoses and compare it to the diagram in my shop manual. I hope I can figure it out. I think it is totally bullsh*t. Especailly when I drive through Long Beach on a regular basis and see how much polution is thrown out by the refinery and manufactering plants there. My b has a brand new engine. It has to be one of the least offensive vehicles on the road. (from an emmisions perspective) I am sooo pissed right now.

oh that sucks, I dont have any of those issues to deal with where I live.
there was a kid on the news last year, he converted a b2200 to an electric vehicle, with a plug in charging system, ...... interesting

Yeah, I saw that. Top speed approx 50mi/hr. Someone on here is doing the same thing.

move the canister to the back beside the tank. then just run a hose to the engine bay. thats what i would do. that way it's pretty much guarunteed that it will pick up the gas from the canister.

It has to match what was done by Mazda. The tech said that I was also missing the factory emmisions sticker that is supposed to be under the hood. (my hood was replaced by an aftermarket one).

california laws suck. i love it here, no emissions. my friend runs strait pipes on a 350 chev and the only time he has ever gotten hasseled for anything was because he stepped on it near a cop without his seat belt on.

Luckily most cops won't waste their time with emissions problems. (although I have seen mobile smog test inspection stations) This is the dreaded DMV. I can't register the damn thing.

Damn dude that sucks. Having two trucks you can't drive is got to be like a good swift kick in the arse every time you see them. I hope the county I live in holds off a few years on emissions cause I'll be in the same boat with my Mazda and my Lexus
