Hahaha! Yea he is! Looking better everytime!

Thats sweet, I think I may have to do that with mine! Is there an advantage to mounting the shocks on the bars?

I did it so that the shock gets the same amount of travel as the bags.

So it wont really give any benefit to a better ride quality or anything like that, will it?

Haha, you know what I think it cool, I'm sure most of the time you get to think of how to build the rear, and its like building another truck of yours! DANGIT! lol...

Well, its going to change the way the truck rides, a little bit. But if you mount it directly to the axle, you're going to limit yourself to 5.5" of lift. Its only about 3 inches away from the axle, so its still going to do its job just fine, but it will travel 7 inches with the bag.

Your second sentence, I have no idea what you mean.

Could'nt you have just gotten longer shocks?

lol, I was saying that it muct be cool to be able to build a truck and other types of trucks at that, cause you have customers! I dunno if I can ever stay happy with the fact I will be done with mine one day and thats it! No more building for me!

Unless I was cool like Seth and had a business, lol!

Yes, longer shocks would have worked. The Bilsteins I like, I could have gotten 1" longer, will limit travel by 1/2" so thats not too bad.

BUT, then the shocks would be taller than the notch, which is something I tried to avoid with this truck. Also there wasn't really a good spot to mount them directly to the axle, without them being too far inboard to do their job. So they would have ended up on the bar anyways.

Its still going to ride just fine anyways. The shocks are stiffer than they need to be, and they will compensate for their placement.

Now, if you have a truck with 10" of travel, do you really want to try to mount a 24" shock on your axle? The mounts are going to be above your tires. You just have to take the situation into consideration, and if you need 10 inches of travel out of a 6" travel shock, you run a stiffer shock and mount it on the bar.

Also, like I said, its 3 inches away from the axle center. Its damn near mounted on the axle. And I explained these shocks before, they are progressive shocks, that are designed to work with air bags. They are also mounted in a semi progressive way, so that as they compress the angle changes slightly causing them to move faster, therefore getting stiffer at the same time.

Ride in this, versus something that has bags on the axles, and a standard Monroe shock mounted directly to the axle straight up and down.
