Well I haven't made one of these threads yet so I thought it'd be easier to keep it updated.
Vehicle: 84 Mazda B2000
Purchased for $500
Ran when purchased, but ran poorly.
Noticed a lot of smoke and pulled the plugs and they were covered in oil and carbon. Knew it was either the head or head gasket so I tore it down and found..
Nice chunk missing out of #1 and #2
Took the fenders and grille off. Didn't want any damage to occur to them. My buddy is sandin down and priming the fenders.
Here's how she sits now
Now, I could have just replaced the head and been done with it. But there was SO much sludge caked on the engine I couldn't stand to put a new head on it and leave the rest so disgusting. So I've been cleanin everything up. Painting. Etc
Love the sludge and stop leak residing in the bottom.
New Head. (Thanks to munkekiller from Mazdatruckin.com) Gonna paint it black. Along with the block, pulleys, and a few other parts
New Gasket set and cam bearings
Box of brackets to be painted red
New Water pump ready to paint black
Timing cover and Intake manifold.
Valve Cover
Thermostat housing (lower)
Thermostat housing (upper) Coolant cap (rear of the head) Oil Filter housing.
Crankshaft pulley 'washer'
The whole engine color scheme is black and red. Some say it's played out but I've done all my vehicles (excluding vette) with that color scheme and I love it.
Got several things to paint and clean up. Then it'll be time for reassembly!
I'll do my best to keep it updated.
